Per-mile rates to help you plan a yacht delivery in Spain and Europe. Starting prices require a prepared vessel, a straightforward route and flexible dates. Initial review, passage planning, navigation and handover are included; additional crew and expenses are separate.
The captain assesses preparation, navigation, handover, return travel and responsibility, and agrees the final quote before booking. Vessel value does not trigger an automatic surcharge.
Before booking, you will receive a quote detailing captain's fees, planned days and their rates, required crew, taxes and expenses. Reimbursable expenses are settled at documented actual cost. Any change to scope and price requires prior agreement.

Alicante and Costa Blanca
Enquiries for owner support, manoeuvring and vessel movements in Alicante, Dénia, Jávea / Xàbia, Altea, Calpe, Santa Pola and Torrevieja. Include the marina and any access or handover arrangements.
Valencia and Castellón
Captain assignments are assessed around the vessel's port, required service and date window. Travel to the boat and coordination with the owner or marine business form part of the proposal.
Spain and Europe
For a purchase handover, a move to another base or a passage between Mediterranean and European ports, provide both ports, the vessel details and the preferred timing.
Other international destinations
Eduard can travel to join the vessel. Longer or overseas assignments are reviewed individually for logistics, documentation, insurance, qualifications, crew and weather.

Meet Eduard.
Eduard Buzatu Istrate holds a degree in Nautical Science and Maritime Transport, the Spanish Capitán de Yate qualification and GMDSS Operator certification. His experience aboard passenger, Ro-Ro and sailing cruise vessels includes service as a deck cadet, with supervised participation in bridge watchkeeping, manoeuvring, safety and deck operations.
He also brings maritime radiocommunications experience from Valencia CCR. This background supports a methodical and prudent way of working; suitability for the specific vessel and assignment is always checked before acceptance.

Can I hire a captain for my own boat?
Yes. You can enquire about captain support aboard your own vessel for a private passage, manoeuvring, a delivery or a handover. This is a captain service aboard the client's boat; it does not include boat rental. The vessel, intended use, dates and scope are reviewed before confirmation.
How do I hire a yacht captain for a private assignment?
Send the vessel type or model, approximate length, location, required service, preferred date or window and private or commercial use. Feasibility, documentation, insurance, qualification scope and crew requirements are reviewed before confirmation. Please do not send policies or sensitive documents with the initial enquiry.
How is an assignment quoted?
Captain's fees in Spain and Europe start at €4.24/NM up to and including 18 m and €6.05/NM over 18 m and up to 24 m, inclusive of 21% VAT (base rates of €3.50 and €5/NM excluding VAT). The €423.50 minimum including VAT (€350 excluding VAT) is reserved for straightforward local movements with a prepared vessel and flexible dates. It is not the minimum for every passage. The captain assesses preparation, navigation, handover, return travel, vessel condition and responsibility, and agrees the final quote before booking. Vessel value does not trigger an automatic surcharge. Additional crew, travel and return, subsistence, fuel and ports are quoted separately. Over 24 m, value above €5 million or other areas require individual assessment. The VAT-inclusive per-mile price is rounded; VAT is calculated on the total captain's fees. International tax treatment is confirmed in the quote.
Which areas can be covered?
Captain Eduard is based in Alicante, in Spain's Valencian Community. Enquiries from Costa Blanca, Valencia and Castellón, as well as European and other international ports, are reviewed around the vessel, dates, travel, documentation, insurance and required scope. Availability is confirmed for each assignment.
Can short-notice assignments be considered?
Yes, subject to availability, but urgency never replaces checks covering the vessel, documents, insurance, weather, qualification scope and required crew.
Can charter or commercial operations be supported?
Only after the vessel's flag, use, documentation, insurance, required qualifications and safe manning have been checked. Confirmation depends on legal and operational fit.
Who responds to the enquiry?
Captain Eduard's agent receives the initial enquiry, gathers the details and coordinates the review. Eduard assesses feasibility and remains the captain carrying out the service once the assignment is confirmed.
